A domain name is your address on the Internet, e.g. www.domainname.com. It is just like a postal

-
I've misspelled my domain name can I change it or have a refund?
-
Unfortunately once the name has been accepted by the sponsoring registry Euro-reg are liable for the
registry fees. Changing the spelling of a domain is exactly the same as registering a new one. When
you register a domain you are reserving the right to exclusively use that unique character string,
changing it would mean reserving the rights to another unique character string, the same as registering a new name.
Because the name has been reserved by the registry in good faith i.e. the registry reserved what it
was told to, they are under no obligation to refund the administration fees as they have carried out
their service without fault. This means that Euro-reg.com are unable to cancel or offer refunds on
misspelled or unwanted domains.
The best thing to do with misspelled domains is use the free forwarding facility and point it at the
correct version, ensuring that anyone else making the same mistake when visiting the site can still find you.

What is Redemption Grace Period (RGP)?
-
Failure to renew your domain registration will eventually result in your domain name going into redemption.
Instead of being deleted and returned to the pool of available names it is held for a 30 day grace

fee. If the domain registration is not renewed in this time it is deleted by the registry.

What is web hosting?
-
Web hosting refers to the housing, serving, and maintaining of files for a website. It is where all the files that make up your website and e-mail are found. Using a hosting service allows companies and individuals to get on to the Internet without the expense or effort of maintaining their own Servers.
Some ISPs provide their subscribers with 'freespace' a small amount of free web space for housing a Web site. While these services are free, they are also very basic.
Having your website hosted offers many benefits over freespace:
- Your web address (domain name) will not be long and often hard to remember like a freespace one
- You are able to set up personalised email accounts, for example me@yourdomain.com
- You are not sharing the Servers resources with 1000's of other users
For more information see our hosting packages.
-
What is PERL?
-
Perl is a web programming language, it is regarded as a good choice for developing common gateway interface (CGI) programs because it has good text manipulation facilities (although it also handles binary files). It was invented by Larry Wall.
In general, Perl is easier to learn and faster to code in than the more structured C and C++ languages. Perl programs can, however, be quite sophisticated. Perl tends to have devoted adherents. Perl was originally said to stand for "Practical Extraction and Reporting Language" but that name is no longer used. Larry Wall prefers the usage of an upper-case "Perl" for the language itself and lower-case "perl" for any interpreter or compiler of Perl.

What is PHP?
-
PHP is a script language and interpreter that is freely available and used primarily on Linux Web servers. PHP, originally derived from Personal Home Page Tools, now stands for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, which the PHP FAQ describes as a "recursive acronym."
PHP is an alternative to Microsoft's Active Server Page (ASP) technology. As with ASP, the PHP script is embedded within a Web page along with its HTML. Before the page is sent to a user that has requested it, the Web server calls PHP to interpret and perform the operations called for in the PHP script.
A HTML page that includes a PHP script is typically given a file name suffix of ".php" ".php3," or ".phtml". Like ASP, PHP can be thought of as "dynamic HTML pages," since content will vary based on the results of interpreting the script.

A Blog or 'Weblog' can be used for many things, usually to post commentary or news on a particular subject or as a personal online diary. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. What is E-mail Forwarding?
-
The e-mail forwarding service allows you to forward e-mails sent to someone@yourdomain.com
onto an existing e-mail account, so that you may collect them. For example you may have a Hotmail account e.g.
your_name@hotmail.com. Any email messages that are sent to someone@yourdomain.com
can be automatically redirected to your existing Hotmail address.
There are two types of e-mail forwarder that are explained below:
Alias E-mail Forwarder
An Alias E-mail Forwarder allows you to forward specific email addresses at your domain name e.g.
info@yourdomain.com to the destination email address specified e.g.
info@yourdomain.com -> you@existingemail.com
-
What is Web Forwarding?
-
You may already have a website on some freespace allocated by your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
or hosted elsewhere. Using the web forwarding service you can re-direct all web requests sent to
your domain name to the web page you already have on the Internet.
The web forwarding has three modes that are described below:
Masked
The masked method uses a technique called "frame based forwarding". To ensure that your domain
name remains in the Browsers address line the underlying website you are forwarding to is held
within a HTML frame set.
Re-Direct
The re-direct option uses a HTTP 302 Found status code, which tells the Browser to automatically
redirect the request to the location specified. This will mean that the forwarding address is
displayed in the Browsers address line rather than your domain name.
Disabled
The Disabled option will display the default telivo holding page when any requests for your domain
name are received.
The web forwarding can be updated as often and as many times as you like.
-
How do I configure the free forwarding service?
-
You can modify and configure your free forwarding by going to your account on Euro-reg.com. Once
logged in you will be presented with a list of the domains that you have purchased. To the right
of each there is a drop-down list, choose the Forwarding option and click Go.
You will be presented with two web forms, one for web forwarding the other for email forwarding.
Simply follow the guides, fill out the forms and submit them.
-
Emails to my forwarded address don't seem to be coming through?
-
The most common reason for not receiving emails forwarded through your domain is due to the
forwarding address being a web based email (e.g. Hotmail, Yahoo), and the junk mail filters
used to prevent spam/bulk email from cluttering up your inbox.
If you believe emails are not getting forwarded from your domain name then please try checking the
junk mail folder on the forwarding address. If the forwarded emails are ending up in your junk mail
folder it may be necessary to adjust your junk mail filter so that in future it will recognise any
email forwarded from your domain name.
-
How do I host my domain name with another company?
-
The company you want to host with should be able to provide you with a set of nameserver addresses
to point your domain over to. Typically it takes the format of:
- ns0.hostcompany.com
- ns1.hostcompany.com
Login to your account via the Euro-reg.com website. Select Modify Nameservers
from the drop down list next to the domain names you wish to host elsewhere and click Go.
Enter the nameservers you have been supplied into the form fields provided and submit the form.
The Nameserver re-delegation request is processed in real-time. However, Caching Nameservers
and the fequency at which the relevant registry Database re-loads means that the changes may
take upto 24hrs to fully resolve.
-
How do i upload files to my website?
-
In order to transfer files to your website you will need a FTP program, such as Filezilla available for free at http://filezilla-project.org.
Once installed, run your chosen FTP program. You will need to enter some information in order for your computer to connect to the FTP server:
- Address
- Username
- Password
This information can be found in your My account section on the euro-reg website. if there is a 'Port' field leave it blank.
With this information correctly entered your computer should try and connect to the internet if it is not already and then connect to the server that is hosting your domain name.
Please note: Your homepage (the initial page you wish visitors to see when going to your website) must be named index.html. An index.html file takes presidence over other files and is loaded first.
-
