Advanced DNS Management
Advanced DNS management give you control over which servers your domain names point to.
How does it work?
DNS is a very complex subject and we would not be able to adequately cover it here, for a simplified version see the DNS FAQ.
Advanced DNS management allows you to control:
- A Records
point website traffic for your domain to the server of your choice
- MX Records
point email traffic for your domain to the server of your choice
What can I use it for?
There are lots of things you can do by modifying the DNS for your domain name, some are listed below:
- Modify the records to use any provider you want for your website and email
- Create a non 'www' A Record that points to a different server e.g. photos.yourdomain.com
- Point your MX Record to a dedicated virus and spam filtering server
- Point an A Record at your home broadband IP address e.g. home.yourdomain.com
